David Friend Recital Hall Concerts

December 11 — 7:30p.m. — Pork Chop Stomp — Faculty member Mike
Ihde presents bluegrass, western swing and traditional country music
styles performed by the Berklee Country Music Ensemble including fiddle,
banjo, mandolin, dobro, vocals and rhythm.

December 12 — 2:00p.m. — Music of Dave Holland - Faculty member
Lello Molinari presents this Berklee ensemble performing the music of
famed bassist Dave Holland (H’00).

December 12 — 4:00p.m. — Advanced Repetory Big Band — Student
ensemble under the direction of faculty member Ed Tomassi.

December 12 — 7:00p.m. — Berklee Marimba Labs - This semester’s
Berklee Marimba Concert- directed by Nancy Zeltsman - will feature

performances by two Marimba Performance Labs, the Marimba Tran-
scriptions and Repertoire Lab, the Marimba in Mixed Chamber Music Lab,
and Berklee solo marimbists. Program will include music by Piazzolla,
Chopin, Yoshioka, Andrew Thomas, Rich O’Meara and others.

December 13 — 4:00p.m. — Brass Quintet — Student ensemble under the
direction of faculty member Charles Lewis.

December 13 — 7:30p.m. — New Friends — Ensemble department faculty
member Herman Hampton presents his students in a performance of
contemporary jazz and Latin compositions.

December 14 — 2:00p.m. — Vocal Groups - Student ensembles under the
direction of faculty member Dennis Montgomery.

December 14 — 4:00p.m. — Back Bay Brass — Ben Elkins leads this
student big band in a program of contemporary arrangements and
compositions by Rob McConnell, Thad Jones, Maria Schneider, Mike
Abene and faculty members Dick Lowell and Elkins.

December 14 — 7:30p.m. — Smooth Jazz Ensemble- Faculty member
Walter Beasley presents the Instrumental Smooth jazz ensemble.

December 17 - The Berklee String Orchestra - Under the direction of
faculty cellist Eugene Friesen, this ensemble will perform a variety of
contemporary compositions for strings.
