Berklee Performance Center Concerts
SPRING 1989
SONGWRITERS NIGHT—Songwriting Department faculty mem-
ber Bob Weingart presents the winning entries of the department’s
annual songwriting contest. These original pop, rock and rhythm and
blues songs will be performed in a variety of instrumental settings.
SINGERS’ SHOWCASE —Some of Berklee’s finest vocalists join.
together for a varied concert of arrangements written especially for
this event in a variety of styles under the direction of Performance
Studies Department faculty member Ken Zambello in conjunction
with Yo Team Productions.
THE BERKLEE CONCERT WIND ENSEMBLE — Faculty member
Greg Fritze presents the Concert Wind Ensemble performing twen-
tieth century wind pieces and featuring the winners of the concerto
and composition competitions.
GUITAR NIGHT XIII—The Berklee Guitar Department presents
its top ensembles in its annual showcase concert embracing all facets
of guitar from jazz to bluegrass, under the direction of Department
Chairman William Leavitt.
CHORD SCALE MADNESS/THE BUDDY RICH ENSEMBLE—
In the first half of this two-for-one concert, faculty guitarist/arranger
Jackson Schultz presents the best student arrangements from the
Chord Scales Voicing for Arrangers class, performed by a student
ensemble. Then trumpeter Wayne Naus presents the music of the
late bandleader/drummer Buddy Rich performed by Berklee’s
own Buddy Rich Ensemble.
THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA —Renowned
faculty trumpeter/arranger Herb Pomeroy leads the most presti-
gious ensemble in the college in a program of contemporary big
band music.
