Berklee Performance Center Concerts

July 19 Instant!Groove with Daryl Lowery
- Daryl Lowery and Instant!Groove special-
ize in the funky soul-jazz grooves commonly
referred to as “acid-jazz.” The group features
faculty member saxophonist Daryl Lowery,
quitarist Rick Peckham, bassist Bruno Raberg
and percussionist Bertram Lehmann along
with T Lavitz on Hammond B3.

July 20 Don Lappin and Scott Tarulli -
Faculty guitarists Scott Tarulli and Don Lappin
take the stage to play original instrumental
rock and fusion from their own CDs.

July 25 Moksha - The eight-piece faculty
group Moksha led by Professor Wayne Naus
performs original music in a Jazz/world/fusion
style. The groups unique instrumentation:
electric trumpet, synthesizer, bass, drums,
percussion, sound design and Viatar, per-
forms a non-stop 70 minute set taking each
listener on a unique journey through a land-
scape of sight and sound.

July 26 The Berklee Rainbow Band -
Berklee's premier Big Band jazz ensemble will
performs under the direction of composer/
arranger/trombonist Phil Wilson.

Aug 2 Five Week Performing Songwriter
Showcase -Faculty vocalist Kristin Cifelli pres-
ents the winners of the Five Week Summer
Performance Program Performing Songwriter
Contest. All styles will be represented in a
variety of instrumental combinations per-
formed by the songwriters , with a house
band made up of current Berklee students.

Aug 3 Young Prof & Phunk Organik pres-
ent KYO - Faculty member David Cowan
presents a medium sized band that's funkier
than 20 pounds of chittlins with onions and
sardines on the side! Now that's FUNKY!!!

Aug 7 5 Week Singers’ Showcase - The
5-Week Singer Showcase will feature perfor-
mances by the 5-Week Chorus directed by
Lucy Holstedt, the 5-Week Musical Theater
Workshop directed by Alisa Miles, and final-
ists of the first annual Singer Showcase con-
test directed by Ken Zambello.

Aug 8 System 5 Blow-Out - Hosted by

J. Curtis Warner, Assistant Vice President,
Community and Governmental Affairs, this
musical extravaganza will feature Boston’s
most talented inner city youth in concert at
the BPC. Showcasing students from a cross
section of Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea and
Somerville public high schools, this evening
promises to be exciting for all! Noteworthy
will be the traditional awarding of full tuition
SYSTEM-5 Continuing Scholarships to deserv-
ing students who will have successfully
completed Berklee’s five-week summer per-
formance program.

Aug 9 Five Week Blow-Out - The Five
Week Summer Performance Program winds
up with this concert featuring some of the
program’s best ensemble’s ranging from small
groups to big band and the five-week choir.
Musical styles will include rock, jazz and
fusion.
