David Friend Recital Hall Concerts

April 27 — [4:00pm] — Jazz Composition En-
semble - The Jazz Composition Ensemble--a
ten piece band with alto, tenor, baritone saxes,
trumpets, trombone, guitar, piano, bass and
drums-- performs original student composi-
tions under the direction of Jazz Composition
department chair Ken Pullig.

April 27 — [7:30pm] — Terri Lyne Carrington
Ensemble - This concert will feature original
music by Terri Lyne Carrington, as well cho-
sen originals by the students in the ensemble.
Also, arrangements of popular pieces from the
Beatles to Herbie Hancock will be included.

April 28 - [1:00pm] — Acoustic Strings
Ensemble - Ensemble department faculty
member John McGann presents this Acoustic
Strings ensemble in performance.

April 28 — [2:30pm] — Neo Soul — R&B vocal
ensemble performs music by Aretha Franklin,
Stevie Wonder and Chaka Kahn under the
direction of faculty member Skip Smith.

April 28 — [4:00pm] — The ECM Ensemble
- Faculty member Bruno Raberg presents
Berklee’s ECM ensemble performing music
from the ECM recording company.

April 28 - [7:30pm] — Contemporary Fusion
Ensemble - Melodious fusion compositions
by faculty trumpeter Tiger Okoshi will be
performed by his ensemble.

May | - [1:00pm] — 52nd Street Themes
Ensemble— Ensemble department faculty
member saxophonist Joe Lovano presents this
ensemble in performance.

May | —[2:30pm| - 21st Century Ensemble—
Ensemble department faculty member saxo-
phonist Joe Lovano presents this ensemble in
performance.

- African Pop music and originals by the
ensemble will feature an exceptionally hard
grooving drum/percussion section under the
direction of faculty member Bob Pilkington.

May 1 - [7:30pm] — Find The Circle: Music
of Pat Metheny Ensemble — Under the direc-
tion of faculty member Winston Maccow, this
10 piece ensemble plays jazz fusion composi-
tions by renowned guitarist and composer Pat
Metheny.

May 2 —[1:00pm] — Advanced Small Band
Ensemble - Straight ahead jazz will be
performed by a group under the direction of
faculty member Mark Whitfield.

May 2 - [2:30pm] — New Music Recital

- Straight ahead jazz will be performed by a
group under the direction of faculty member
Dave Samuels.

May 2 — [4:00pm] — Modern Jazz Ensemble
- Straight ahead jazz will be performed by a
group under the direction of faculty member-
Dave Samuels.

May 3 — [1:00pm] — Edition of Contemporary
Music - Straight ahead jazz originals will be
performed by a group under the direction of
faculty member Dave Samuels.

May 3 —[2:30pm] — Advanced Small Band
Ensemble - Straight ahead jazz standards
will be performed by a septet under the direc-
tion of faculty saxophonist Andy McGhee.

May 3 — [4:00pm| — New Music Ensemble

- Straight ahead jazz will be performed by a
group under the direction of faculty member
Dave Samuels.
