BERKLEE PERFORMANCE CENTER CONCERTS
FALL 82
November1 Corey Allen and Orville Wright in Concert — Two faculty pianists/
composers join wits to present an outing of original music in the
contemporary jazz vein. Faculty saxophonist Peter Gordon is also
featured.
November2 Duo: Phil Wilson/Makoto Ozone — A “don’t miss” event that joins two
of Berklee's most prodigious talents in a hard swinging, no holds barred
evening of jazz.
November3 DOUBLE CONCERT: Listen and You Shall Hear . . . and Midnight
Fantasy — Outstanding guitarist Anthony Peterson will present jazz
standards and original compositions in the first half of the evening’s
show. To complete the evening vocalist/guitarist Marie Mattie will
modulate from jazz to country/pop and feature original compositions by
herself and faculty guitarist Mike Ihde.
November9 An Evening With ... — Miguel Sa Pessoa will direct a program of
original latin/jazz and fusion compositions.
November 10 A New Beginning — Vocalist Lisa Harrigan will present a program of
varied musical styles including jazz, funk, gospel, calypso and reggae.
Her special guests will be the “Reverence Gospel Ensemble” and “The
Boston Conservatory Dancers.”
November 15 Music For Manics — A concert of new chamber works by members of
the composition department directed by George Cordeiro will feature
works by Cordeiro, Tom McGah, Dennis LeClaire, Matthew Marvuglio,
and Chris Frigon.
November 16 Decahedron, In Concert — Ken Pullig’s 10 piece band is the ideal
forum for the adventuresome jazz writing of Ken and guitarist Bili
Brinkley. A highlight of the program will be the presentation of
“Synapse” a major work by Pullig.
November 17 Stairway to the Stars — Part Il — In varied musical settings, fromtrio
to big band, vocalist Sheila Ford will lead a program of jazz, broadway,
gospel, classical, and funk. The “Reverence Gospel Ensemble” will be
featured as her special guests.
November 18 The Berklee Jazz Orchestra — Directed by Herb Pomeroy, this is the
most prestigious ensemble in the college in a program of contemporary
big band music.
November 22 Woodwind Trio — Faculty member Matt Marvuglio will present a concert
of chamber music with selections from both classical and modem
periods.
