David Friend Recital Hall Concerts

May 4 - 2:00 p.m. - Island Vibe - The Berklee Steelpan Ensemble and the
Carribean Ensemble perform hot caribbean and Afro-Cuban rhythms from
the Islands directed by ensemble faculty member Ron Reid.

May 4 - 4:00 p.m. - Music of Wayne Shorter Ensemble - Directed by Dave
ensemble faculty member Santoro.

May 4 - 7:30 p.m. - Berklee Marimba Concert - Featuring performances
by the Marimba Transcriptions and Repertoire Lab and The Marimba
Performance Lab, the evening’s varied program will include music by
Beethoven, Saint-Saéns and traditional Chinese music as well as selec-
tions by Tori Amos, Danny Elfman and Thelonious Monk.

May 5 -2:00 p.m. - Big Band Bash! - Big Band ensembles under the
direction of Jerry Cecco (1:00pm), Brian Lewis (2:00 p.m.), Wayne
Naus(3:00 p.m.), Ben Elkins(4:00 p.m.) perform in a Big Band extrava-
ganza.

May 5 - 7:30 p.m. - Latin Jazz Ensemble - Directed by Oscar Stagnaro.

May 8 - 7:30 p.m. - Thomas Walbum Masters Recital - Pianist Thomas
Walbum leads a quartet in a program of jazz stadnards and original
arrangments in partial fullfillment of the requirements for a Masters in
Jazz Performance,

May 11 - 7:30 p.m. - Kerim Aaron Imes Masters Recital - In partial
fullfillment of the requirements for a Masters in Jazz Performance,
Drummer Kerim Imes presents a three part rectial. The evening will open
with an acoustic jazz quintet performing Latin and straight ahead jazz.
Then an electric quintet will perrform in fusion and funk styles. An original
band called Sleestack will clsoe the program with drums, bass, guitar and
vocals through an efx proecessor.
