David Friend Recital Hall Concerts

April 21, 1:00pm- The Music of Wayne Shorter — Faculty member Dave Santoro
leads this ensemble performing the music of the famed saxophonist and com-
poser. :

April 21, 2:30pm- Blue Note Era Music - Faculty member David Santoro
presents his student ensemble performing jazz from the Blue Note recordings of
the 1950’s and ‘60s.

April- 21, 4:00pm-Straight-Up Stuff — The music of Woody Shaw, Wayne Shorter,
Cedar Walton and Charlie Parker will be performed by a student quintet directed
by Herman Hampton.

April 21, 7:30pm- Contemporary Wind Ensemble — Under the direction of
faculty member Peter Cokkinias, this ensemble performs in mixed musical styles
including Romantic, Impressionism and Modern.

April 22, 1:00pm- Brazillian Jazz- Various Brazilian music styles and composi-
tions by Hermeto Pascoal, Miilton Nascimento and others will be performed by
this ensemble under the direction of faculty member Fernando Brandao.

April 22, 2:30pm- Advance-The Berklee Yellowjackets Ensemble - A quartet
performs the music of the famed jazz fusion band, The Yellowjackets under the
direction of David Weigert.

April 22, 4:00pm- Jazz Composition Ensemble: Slow and Fast - The Jazz
Composition Ensemble—a ten piece band with alto, tenor, baritone saxes,
trumpets, trombone, guitar, piano, bass and drums— performs original student
compositions under the direction of Jazz Composition department chair Ken
Pullig.

April 22, 7:30pm- The Music of Ornette Coleman Ensemble — Faculty member
Jeff Galindo leads this ensemble performing the music of the famed saxophonist
and composer.

April 23, 1:00pm- European Contemporary Music Ensemble - Faculty member
Bruno Raberg presents this ensemble performing music from the ECM recording
company.

April 23, 2:30pm- The Music of Jimi Hendrix - Student ensembles perform
music by Jimi Hendrix under the direction of faculty member Kenwood Dennard.

April 23, 4:00pm- Music of Tower Of Power - The Music of Tower of Power
performed by a student ensemble under the direction of faculty member Wayne
Naus.
