Things That Albert Einstein did and didn’t say
Text by Albert Einstein, with additional lyrics by Darrell Katz
(part VIl is omitted from this performance)
1. Any Intelligent Fool
" Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a
touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.”
Il. What Did Albert Einstein Say?
| would have like to think that it was true,
But | had to wonder.
Did Albert Einstein say that the three greatest inventions of the modern world
were the three masted sailing ship? The Refrigerator? and the bicycle?
Then | learned that | had been misled
he didn't say it
he didn't say it
he didn't say it.
However, most of these are apocryphal too.
1II. Riding A Bicycle
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.”
“The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.”
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
“Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted
counts.”
“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler. “
“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
IV. Under The Cloak Of War
It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder. “
V. Sticks and Stones
“| know not with what weapons World War Ill will be fought, but World War IV will be
fought with sticks and stones.”
VI. The Mysterious
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true
art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to
wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.”
