We invert an interval by taking the bottom note and plac=-
ing it on topl or by taking the top note and placing it on
bottom. EXAMPLE:



UPON INVERSION:
Perfect intervals remain perfect.

A prime becomesan octave. An octave becomes a prime.
A fourth becomes a fifth. A fifth becomes a fourth.
Major intervals becomeminor.

Minor intervals become major. :

A third becomes a sixth. A sixth becomes a third.

A second becomes aseventh. A seventh becomes a second.
Augmented intervals become diminished.

Diminished intervals become augmented.

Make a chart of all the possible intervals and their in-

versions. Use C as the key tone. Pelow is a layout of the

chart.
