Berklee Performance Center Concerts

FALL 1992

SVETI SAVA/THE WAY I SEE IT—Drummer Marko Djordjevic
presents his trio performing original compositions inspired by
Yugoslav music. In the second half, pianist Sasi Shalom and his
quintet Modus performs jazz rock originals with Middle Eastern
influences.

OFF-SPRING 3/THE CHRISTIAN VER HALEN DOUBLE BAND—
Violinist Tomoko Iwamoto presents a string quartet performing jazz
standards and original compositons and arrangements with special
guest String Department Chair Matt Glaser. In the second half, guitar-
ist Christian Ver Halen offers original compositions containing jazz,
R&B, and world music in a blend of musical styles performed by a
double-sized band including Teodross Avery, saxophone, and Marc
Miralta, drums.

BUSTER WILLIAMS AND GARRISON FEWELL—As part of this year’s
Bass Week activities, renowned acoustic bassist Buster Williams will
perform jazz in duet with faculty guitarist Garrison Fewell.

CHUCK RAINEY—Continuing with Bass Week activities, legendary
electric bassist Chuck Rainey will perform in a trio setting with stu-
dents, Kamara Cambon, piano, and Abe Laboriel, Jr., drums.

MARK EGAN & ELEMENTS—For the final evening concert of Bass
Week activities, the fusion quartet Elements, led by world-renowned
rhythm section team of bassist Mark Egan and drummer Danny
Gottlieb, will perform fusion originals from their latest recordings.

FALL TOGETHER ’92—Jazz Composition Department faculty mem-
bers present their compositions, including works by Ted Pease, Greg
Hopkins, Marc Rossi, and Bob Pilikington, performed by a faculty
ensemble. Of special note is a piece by Department Chair Ken Pullig
entitled “Politickle Your Fancy,” a 30-minute extended composition
for jazz vocalist and large ensemble. Featured performers include
Berklee alumni Michael Gibbs and Ruthie Ristich.
