February 25 — Write of Spring - This concert features original works of Jazz
Composition Department faculty Scott Free, Jeff Friedman, Richard Lowell,
Jackson Schultz and Bill Scism. Also, from the Contemporary Writing and
Production Department, faculty composer Ben Elkins was invited to present his
composition orchestrated for a twenty-piece ensemble. Richard Lowell’s large
ensemble composition will feature the dazzling clarinet work of special guest
performer Dick Johnson.
February 26 — From the Block to the Booth: The Evolution of Hip-Hop: Justin
Hughes & Max Joseph present original Hip Hop for 9 pieces and D tracing the
Hip Hop Scene from 1979 to 2003 including music by RUN DMC, the Sugar Hill
Gang, Grand master Flash, The Furious Five and more.
March 1 — Women’s Music Network - Women’s Music Network - Women
Musicians Network presents its 7th annual Showcase faturing the finest female
talent Berklee has to offer to kick-off Women ‘s History Month. Styles include
funk, fusion, soul, samba, rock and electronica. This year’s show is produced by
students Liz Teutsch and Sandra Zorilla with faculty advisor Lucy Holstedt and
sponsored by the College Diversity Committee.
