Horace Silver, Sonny Rollins, Joe Puma, Sam
Jones and others with bassist Marshall Wood
and drummer Rick Kress.
April 14- [7:30 pm] — Bret's Frets — Bret
Willmott presents his students playing con-
temporary jazz.
April 15 - Infrared Band Plays the House of
Ra - Faculty guitarist Garrison Fewell presents
avant-garde jazz and improvised music by
Eric Dolphy, Thelonious Monk, Artie Saw and
Sun Ra with special guest Eric Hofbauer, gui-
tar. “House of Ra” (the sky or heavens where
the Egyptian God Ra rules) represents infinite
possibility and continuity. This concert visits
compositions from the swing, be-bop, hard
bop and modal eras. It bridges the past to
the now by reveling in the moment of cre-
ation and improvisation, a touchstone of pos-
sibility and personality.
April 19 - 1:00 pm — The Next Crusade -
Faculty saxophonist Dan Moretti leads this
student ensemble through the best of the
soul/funk jazz pioneers, The Crusaders with
compositions and arrangements by Joe
Sample, Wayne Henderson, and Stix Hooper.
April 19 - 2:30 pm — Dennis Montgomery -
Ensemble department faculty member Dennis
Montgomery presents this ensemble in per-
formance.

Student ensemble under the direction of fac-

Ensemble — Soul and funk music of the
famed Tower of Power band performed by
this 5 horn, 5 vocal and 5 rhythm ensemble
under the direction of faculty member

another in the annual Songwriter's Circle
Series featuring four outstanding singer-
songwriters from the Berklee community.
