Mark Shilansky

Piano

Described as an “inventive, modern mainstream jazz pianist" by the Boston Globe,
Mark Shilansky provides melodic improvisation and infectious compositions as a solo
artist and as an accompanist to a host of jazz luminaries, such as Luciana Souza and
the New York Voices. Shilansky's six recordings as a leader include 2007's Join the
Club, a mostly Latin Jazz affair featuring David Bowie saxophonist Donny McCaslin;
and 2013's Fugue Mill, the eponymous debut of his Jazz/Bluegrass/Celtic project featuring violin
phenom Sara Caswell. He is featured on more than 60 recordings as a keyboardist, vocalist, composer/
arranger, or producer. His works have been recorded by Robin McKelle and Kim Nazarian, and by

jazz all-state and college ensembles around the country. His podcast, Mark Shilansky’s Talking Music,
features interviews with other musicians. Shilansky serves as a faculty member at Berklee College

of Music.



Tom Baskett

Background Vocal Coordinator

Tom Baskett is regarded by colleagues and students for his dynamic and caring
promotion of up-and-coming artists. His 30-year professional career includes credits
for numerous international performances and productions in Africa, Asia, Europe
and the U.S. His singing and speaking voice is heard in national and international TV,
radio and web-based advertising, as well as popular artists' recordings. Tom Baskett
is a founding member of the globally-regarded vocal ensemble Vox One, whose work is taught and
performed at colleges in the U.S. and around the world. At Berklee College and in Greater Boston, he
mentors, coaches and directs students in creating performances which move hearts and inspire social
change. Aformer pastoral minister, Tom Baskett's teaching promotes spiritual wholeness, aspiration,
professional integrity, and personal integration. His protégés includes vocalists appearing on The Voice
and American Idol, and The Sing-Off, as well as productions of Hamilton, The Color Purple, Motown: The
Musical, and more.



Carl Beatty

Producer

Carl Beatty began his career at Mediasound, a recording studio in New York City,
which led to a successful freelance career. He has worked with a variety of artists,
ranging from Sesame Street to the Ramones, Tom Jones to the B-52's, and Luther
Vandross to Joan Jett, to name just a few. In 1989 he joined Berklee in the Music
Production and Engineering Department. In that role Beatty mentored many alumni
who have gone on to successful careers in various positions in the music industry, including returing
to teach at Berklee.



Fifteen years later, Beatty shifted to his administrative tenure at Berklee, assuming the role of chief

of staff in the Office of the President. He now serves as assistant vice president for artist and music
industry relations. In collaboration with Academic Affairs, Alumni Affairs, External Affairs, and Career
Services, Beatty works with artists and alumni to create interactive opportunities for students and to
seek internship and employment opportunities. He also serves as chair of Berklee's Honors Committee,
which considers honorary doctorate candidates. He is celebrating his 30th year at Berklee.
