FALL 1988

THE WAYNE SHORTER ENSEMBLE/THE JOHN SCOFIELD ENSEMBLE
—Ensemble faculty member bassist Bruno Raberg presents the seven-piece
Wayne Shorter Ensemble performing compositions by the famed tenor saxo-
phonist. In the second half, faculty guitarist Rick Peckham leads the six-piece
John Scofield ensemble through a program of arrangements and compositions
by one of Berklee’s most talented guitar alumni.

AN EVENING WITH THE BERKLEE RAINBOW BAND —Faculty trombonist
Phil Wilson presents an evening of jazz-fusion performed by an outstanding col-
lection of international talent. Compositions by trumpeter Fabio Morgera and
Phil Wilson will be featured.

HONKY TONKS AND SADDLE SORES AGAIN —Faculty guitarist Bob Stanton
leads the Berklee Country Ensemble in an evening of traditional and contem-
porary country, bluegrass and southern rock styles including the music of

Hank Williams, Asleep At The Wheel, The Judds, The Allman Brothers,

Jim Croce and more.

THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA —Famed faculty composer/
arrangcr/trumpeter Herb Pomeroy directs the college’s most prestigious ensem-
ble through a program of big band jazz.

THE CONCERT CHOIR/THE COLLEGE SINGERS/VOCAL SUMMIT—The
34-voice Concert Choir, under the direction of voice department faculty member
Anne Peckham, opens this special three-part vocal night performing classic con-
cert repertoire including works by J.S. Bach and former Berklee faculty composer
Jeronimus Kacinskas. The College Singers, under the direction of Voice Depart-
ment Chairman Kenneth Greenhouse, follow with a program of twentieth century
choral music by Williametta Spencer, Rene Clausen, Jean Berger, Steve Cooper
and others with featured selections by student arrangers Yumiko Matsuoka and
David Cobb. To close the concert voice department faculty Bob Stoloff leads the
nine-voice a capella group Vocal Summit through a diverse program of spontane-
ous improvisations, modern interpretations of traditional works by Gabrielli,
Mozart and Rimsky-Korsakoff and originals by group members.

MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE—The Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble will per-
form traditional and contemporary gospel music in their inaugural concert under
the direction of student conductor Tim Owens.

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS 84%—READ THE DOOR BEFORE YOU
KNOCK—The Performance Studies Department, under the direction of chair-
man Rob Rose, presents its faculty and students in an evening of various musical
styles from contemporary jazz and bebop to progressive rock. Faculty mem-
bers Hal Crook, Jim Odgren, Tony Lada, Bob Stanton, Ed Tomassi, Cliff Maddix,
Ken Zambello, Jackie Beard, Ken Cervenka and Camille Schmidt will be featured.
