Berklee Performance Center Concerts
July 17 — An Evening of Jazz Harmonica with Trio- Faculty member Mike
Turk, harmonica, presents an evening of jazz standards and original
compositions by pianist Yoko Miwa with Jose Pienasola, bass and Scott
Goulding, drums.
July 18 - Tower of Power Ensemble- The Berklee Tower of Power En-
semble, under the direction of faculty trumpeter Wayne Naus, performs
the music of the famed soul and funk band.
August 1 — The Reflection of Earth — Faculty trumpeter Wayne Naus
presents his group Moksha performing original music fusing technology
and improvisation with varied musical styles and rhythms reflecting
America’s diverse melting pot of multi ethnic influences. Although prima-
rily in a jazz style, the group prefers to say “the music is not about a
style—its about an adventure!
August 2 - Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra - Big band jazz originals in
swing, Latin, and contemporary styles will be presented by faculty trom-
bonist/composer/arranger Ben Elkins conducting the 19-piece Back Bay
Brass Jazz orchestra. Featuring compositions and arrangements by
Michael Abene, Rob McConnell, Stan Kenton, Thad Jones, Kenny Wheeler
and Berklee faculty composers Ted Pease and Dick Lowell.
August 7 - System 5 City Music Blow-Out Concert - C. Warner - Hosted
by J. Curtis Warner, Director of Education and Community Partnerships,
this musical extravaganza will feature Boston’s most talented inner city
youth in concert at the Berklee Performance Center. Showcasing stu-
dents from a cross section of Boston public high schools, this evening
promises to be exciting for alll Noteworthy will be the traditional award-
ing of full tuition SYSTEM-5 Continuing Scholarships to three deserving
students who will have successfully completed Berklee’s five-week
summer performance program. s
August 8 - 5Sweek Summer Performance Program Blow-Out- Doezema -
The Five Week Summer Performance Program winds up with this concert
featuring some of the program’s best ensemble’s ranging from small
groups to big band and the five-week choir. Musical styles will include
rock, jazz and fusion.
August 9 - Rainbow Band- Wilson - Faculty composer/arranger/trombonist
Phil Wilson leads the Berklee Rainbow Band in an evening of jazz.
