This piece is a prayer primarily for children. It is a message hope, love
and strength in spite of the inevitability of death. With the contrast of
wickedness, represented through the dark microtonal texture, there are

moments of pure love and spiritual calm.

Derived from the Latin texts contained in the Liber Usualis, concerning

‘prayers for the dead,’ the text translates as such:

“With you, children, strength,
Blood, sweat, tears,

And all lives, faithful to death,
Blessed children, youth
Your gift
“Shine, light, shine eternally,
Be kind, death and life, wrath

We are blessed.”
