Berklee Performance Center Concerts
April 30- Serenade to Music by Ralph Vaughan Williams — The Concert -
Choir, under the direction of Voice department faculty member Anne
Peckham, will perform two major choral works: Mozart's Laudate
Dominum and Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music. Featured soloists
include Yumiko Seshita, Katharine Heaton, Monica Yngvesson, Michelle
Ko, Claudia Giutierrez, Judy Jones, Chris Chatham, Joe Faulder, Vasco
Hexel, and Will Robertson. David Shrewsbury accompanies on piano.
May 1- The Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra - Under the direction of
faculty composer/arranger/trumpeter Greg Hopkins, the Concert Jazz
Orchestra features the finest instrumentalists in the college playing
original music written expressly for the group by talented student and
faculty writers. e
May 2- New Sounds for the Millennium - Under the direction of woodwind
department faculty member Peter Cokkinias, the Berklee Concert Wind
Ensemble will perform an eclectic program of works by the following
composers: Stravinsky, Holst, Reed, Weinstein, Dukas, and Brown. The
ensemble seeks out works which demonstrate a wide variety of styles
and combinations of players within the larger ensemble. A
May 3- Chord Scale Madness/Urban Outreach Jazz Orchestra - Under
the direction of Jazz Composition department faculty member Jackson 3
Schultz, some of the strongest student arrangements from the “Voicings '
Derived from Chord Scales” course will be performed by a large en- =
semble. Then Ensemble department faculty member Lin Biviano presents
big band jazz in the style of the Count Basie, Woody Herman, Maynard
Ferguson and Buddy Rich Bands.
