Julius P.Williams, award-winning conductor and composer, has conducted numerous
orchestras and operas across the United States. A prolific compaoser, Williams has
created many works for a variety of genres of contemporary classical performance,
including opera, ballet, orchestra, chamber ensemble, chorus and solo voice,
dance, musical theatre, and film. His music has been performed by symphony
orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit
Symphony, and the Dallas Symphony. Williams was music director of the Washington Symphony from
1998-2003, the artistic director of Spain’s Music Festival of Costa del Sol, artistic director of the School
of Choral Studies, and principal conductor of the School of Orchestra Studies at the New York State
Summer School of the Arts. Additionally, he has served as cover conductor for both the Boston Pops
Orchestra and the Rhode Island Philharmonic. In Europe, Williams has performed and recorded with
the Prague Radio Symphony, the Moscow Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the Dvofak Symphony
Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, and the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
He is currently the president of the Conductors Guild, music director and conductor of Trilogy: An Opera
Company in New Jersey, and professor of composition and conducting at Berklee.
