Jan. 22 CLIFF WITTSTRUCK AND FRIENDS — Faculty guitarist
Cliff Wittstruck leads a seven-piece ensemble in an evening
of rock, jazz and Latin original compositions.
Jan. 23 HOME’S WHERE THE HEART IS — Original music mixing
elements of jazz, funk and fusion is presented by faculty drummer
Bob Tamagni and an all faculty quintet with Jim Odgren (sax),
Jim Kelly (quitar), Ed Friedland (bass) and Bruce Barth (piano).
Jan. 28 SPRINGBIRD — Facully pianist Robert Dogan leads a quintet
inan cveni’ng of original mainstream jazz with faculty mem-
bers Tim Hagans (trumpet), Steve Rochinski (quitar) and
Joe Hunt (drums).
Jan. 29 TODO VA BIEN — Original Latin jazz, funk and fusion for a small
ensemble is presented by faculty vibist Victor Mendoza.
Jan. 30 Double Concert — THE BENJAMIN RODEFER QUARTET/
FORWARD MOTION — Senior guitarist Benjamin Rodefer opens
this two-part concert with original ECM style jazz with special quest,
faculty guitarist Bret Willmott. This will be followed by senior bassist
Terje Gewelt and his quartet, Forward Motion, performing their
special brand of contemporary jazz.
Feb.3 SURGING FORWARD — The Fringe, led by faculty saxo-
phonist George Garzone with drummer Bob Gullotti and bassist
Mike Zavarella, perform original, high-energy, freely impro-
vised jazz.
Feb. 4 Double Concert — BROUHAHA/MUSIC FOR THE HIGH MIES-
TRESS OF OUTNESS — Bassist/composer Ed Broms leads his
quintet in a set of original progressive fusion and compositions
by Frank Zappa and Ornette Coleman. In the second half, senior
drummer Jonathan Edwards presents contemporary small band
jazz with special quests from NYC, clarinetist Perry Robinson and
saxophonist Mdrk Whitecage.
Feb.5 UP YOUR MAINSTREAM — A medium-size, all faculty big band
directed by faculty composer/arranger Bud Billings will perform
modern jazz arrangements of standards and original compositions.
Feb.6 FELTSATRONICS — Faculty saxc phonist szdy Felts leads a sextet
in a program of original techno-pop-rock-fusion with special guest,
faculty guitarist Bill Brinkley.
