SUMMER 1993

ELECTRONIC WIND SONG—Faculty member Randy Felts, perform-
ing on the “synthaphone,” electronic saxophone, will present a diverse
program of original compositions in jazz, rock, and Latin jazz styles as
well as tunes by Horace Silver and Herbie Hancock. Featured perform-
ers will include Steven Barboza on percussion and a faculty horn
section with Bill Scism, Bruce Nifong, and Berke McKelvey.

FIVE-WEEK WELCOMING CONCERT - Blues After Dark—

Bob Doezema, Assistant Director of the Five-week Summer Perfor-
mance Program, will lead Blues After Dark performing blues and R&B
by B.B. King, Little Richard, Freddie King, and others with special
guests and friends from the five-week faculty.

NORMAN ZOCHER TRIO: A BERKLEE GUITAR FACULTY RE-
CITAL—Guitar Department faculty member Norman Zocher will
perform his original guitar-oriented jazz compositons with his trio
featuring Abigail Aronson, bass, and Jim Harp, drums. The trio has just
released their recording Guitar Jazz Music and are performing
throughout the New England and New York areas.

THE BERKLEE BUDDY RICH BIG BAND—Under the direction of
faculty trumpeter Wayne Naus, this Berklee ensemble plays music in
the style of the late bandleader/drummer Buddy Rich and featuring
compositions and arrangements by Don Menza, Dick Leib, Matt
Catingub, and Wayne Naus.

K.T. & THE GROOVE MERCHANTS—Faculty guitarist Kenneth Taft
presents a program of blues, soul, and jazz for his seven-piece en-
semble and featuring special guest Nat Simpkins.
