Do You Hear What | Hear? Latest
Developments in Psychoacoustics and Their
Application in Voice Training

Current research in acoustics is having a dramatic impact
on our understanding of how we hear and learn music. Our
perceptions of vowels and intonation do not always agree
with the measurements in the lab. The presenters will share
current research, discuss the implications for voice teaching
and singing, and demonstrate in a master class format with
current Berklee students. Participants will leave with a new
perspective on their hearing and their students’ perceptions.
Faculty will be able to use this
new perspective to get faster and deeper results with their
students.

Classroom, and College Environment

Have you wondered how your female students experience
a classroom that is primarily composed of male students?
Have you questioned whether your syllabi, curricula, and
teaching habits are inclusive of all gender identities and
expressions? The current Berklee undergraduate student
and faculty population is about 30 percent female. This
session will provide faculty with the space to discuss how the
disparity in gender affects the student experience and how
you can grow as an ally for women in your classrooms. We will
look beyond the numbers to see how behaviors and implicit
biases expressed by members of our community can make a
