Berklee Performance Center Concerts
Fall ‘85 '
CHRISTIAN JACOB AND FRIENDS — Senior pianist Christian Jacob
and an all-star sextet, just back from the “Jazz Festival at Sea” with
Gary Burton, will perform original jazz in a variety of instrumental
settings from solo to sextet with special guest faculty drummer
Tommy Campbell and Dean of Curriculum vibraphonist Gary Burton.
THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA — Famed faculty com-
poser/arranger Herb Pomeroy directs the college’s most prestigious o
ensemble through a program of big band jazz.
THE BACK BAY BRASS JAZZ ORCHESTRA — Original compositions
and arrangements for big band are presented by faculty composer/
arranger/trombonist Ben Elkins.
THE BERKLEE REVERENCE GOSPEL ENSEMBLE — Under the
direction of senior vocalist David Chandler with faculty advisor
Ensemble Department Chairman Orville Wright, the 50-voice Rever-
ence Gospel Ensemble will perform a spirited mixture of traditional
and contemporary gospel music.
THE ACOUSTIC REVOLUTION — Berklee Commercial Arranging
Department Chairman Bob Freedman brings a medium-sized ensem-
ble of Berklee faculty and outstanding students to the Performance
Center stage for an evening of original acoustic jazz.
WILLIAM CALHOUN’'S DARK SARCASM — Senior drummer
William Calhoun presents an evening of original progressive jazz-
fusion compositions from his nine-piece ensemble, “Dark Sarcasm.”
BERKLEE SINGERS’S SHOWCASE — Some of Berklee's finest vocal-
ists will be featured in this musically varied concert of arrangements
written especially for this event under the direction of Performance
Studies Department Chairman Rob Rose and Ensemble Department
Chairman Orville Wright.
Double Concert — THE ROBERTA DAVIS ENSEMBLE/THE
COLLEGE SINGERS IN CONCERT — Faculty vocalist Roberta Davis
will direct her 24-voice ensemble in a program of classical, folk and
contemporary holiday music in arrangements by Gene Puerling,
Kirby Shaw and others. In the second half, Voice Department Chair-
man Kenneth Greenhouse conducts the 40-voice College Singers
through a program of 20th century choral music, vocal jazz and pop-
ular tunes featuring composers Tim Anderson, Edu Lobo, S. Paulus
and Q. Puerling.
TAKIN® CARE OF BUSINESS 60 — FAMILY — Faculty vocalist -
Hancy Tellier Morris, with Yo Team Productions presents a varied :
evening of music on the theme of “Family, ” with the usual dancing,
guest appearances and high energy performances.
