Berklee Performance Center Concerts



SPRING 1992

EAR TRAINING DEPARTMENT CONCERT—Under the direction of
Assistant Chair Greg Badolato and faculty member Brian Lewis, the
Ear Training Department will showcase the talents of its faculty
members in a variety of settings including vocal performance, jazz,
and jazz fusion.

INTERNATIONAL NIGHT—The Performance Division’s Yo Team
and the Office of the Dean of Students present international students
from nine different countries in an evening of music with authentic
instrumentation, singing, dancing, and costumes. Performing will be
groups from Russia, Venezuela, Cameroon, France, Trinidad, China,
Spain, and the Caribbean, as well as the U.S. A party featuring
various international foods will follow the concert in the Berklee
cafeteria.

PERCUSSION UNLIMITED—This year’s annual Percussion Depart-
ment concert features Department Chair Dean Anderson performing
with the Berklee Virtual Orchestra—an all-MIDI quartet with Music
Synthesis Department Chair Dennis Thurmond, Woodwind Depart-
ment Chair Matt Marvuglio, and MP&E faculty member Richard
Boulanger. Percussion faculty member Steve Wilkes will showcase
the Berklee World Beat Pop lab in a variety of African selections
followed by acoustic percussion works by Jeff Fischer, Gordon Stout,
and ensemble member Yusuke Yamamoto. In addition, Assistant
Professor Jon Hazilla will be featured drum set soloist in a tribute to
Max Roach.

THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA—Renowned faculty
trumpeter/arranger/composer Herb Pomeroy leads the most presti-
gious ensemble in the college in a program of contemporary big
band music.
