Berklee Performance Center Concerts

July 15 - The Monterey Jazz Festival's
Next Generation Jazz Orchestra

The Next Generation Jazz Orchestra
is a superlative collection of advanced
high school jazz musicians who will
perform carefully crafted arrange-
ments and compositions before they
embark on an international tour.

July 24 - Tarulli & Lappin

Faculty members Scott Tarulli and Don
Lappin share the stage for a night

of original, rock/fusion instrumental
music.

July 28 - Daryl Lowery Instant!Groove
Regarding the band's debut CD Jazziz
magazine wrote "Daryl Lowery and
Instant!Groove specialize in the funky
soul-jazz grooves commonly referred
to as 'acid-jazz.' The rhythm section is
elastic, mid-tempo patterns aid excel-
lent solos...resulting in a sound akin to
John Scofield's A Go Go CD."

July 31 - Rainbow Band - Big band jazz
will be performed under the direction
of faculty composer/arranger/trombon-
ist Phil Wilson.

August 6 - Five Week Performing
Songwriter Showcase- Under the direc-
tion of Kristin Cifelli and Liz Stahler,
the annual Five-Week Performing
Songwriter Showcase features students
who have made it through a series

of auditions. All songs are written by
the students and they are backed by a
Berklee "All-Start" house band.

August 7 - Joe Stump - Berklee faculty
guitarist, speed metal virtuoso, Joe
Stump performs neo-classical speed
metal, European power metal, and
retro hard rock tracks from his various
recordings, live with his band.

August 11 - Five Week Performance
Program Vocal Night - Featuring three
Five-Week vocal ensembles--Middle
Eastern Fusion Ensemble, Five Week
Chorus, Musical Theater Workshop--
as well a the 2nd annual Five Week
Singers' Showcase.

August 12 [7:30 pm]

City Music SYSTEM 5 Blow-Out Concert
A culminating event at the end of

the Five-Week Summer Performance
Program featuring students who are
recipients of the City Music SYSTEM 5
Scholarship. Music will range from gos-
pel to jazz to rhythm and blues.

August 13 - Five-Week Summer
Performance Program Blow-Out: We're
On Our Way Home - This concert will
feature some of the program's best
ensembles performing in a wide range
of musical styles ranging from small
groups to big bands.
