Amal Murkus
Amal Murkus is a leading Palestinian singer, actress, and TV host of international renown, and
is very active in the Palestinian cultural scene. She released five albums of various musical
genres both traditional and contemporary. Murkus did some remarkable collaborations with
great artists around the world including Joan Baez, Mercedes Sosa, Robert Wyatt, Peter Yarrow
and the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic. In 2001, she was chosen by Austrian TV as one of the
most beautiful voices of the 20th century.

The Berklee Middle Eastern Fusion Ensemble was created in 2006 by
Christiane Karam as a platform for cultural understanding and a space for
Eastern and Western musical languages, traditional and contemporary,
ll tointersect and converse. The ensemble has performed extensively over
the years, sharing the stage with Hiisni Senlendirici, Javier Limén, Simon
Shaheen, Bassam Saba, Binka Dobreva, and many others.
Berklee Indian Ensemble
The Berklee Indian Ensemble is a home to musicians from over 42 countries, performing a vast repertoire of Hin-
dustani/Carnatic classical, folk, Sufi, contemporary, and Indo-jazz compositions. It is directed by Annette Philip,
artistic director of the Berklee India Exchange.
Ludo Mlado Folk Dance Ensemble
Ludo Mlado is a folklore dance ensemble based in Boston, Massachusetts. By
training dancers and showcasing performances at cultural events, the group
endeavors to preserve and spread awareness of the rich dance traditions of
Bulgaria and the Balkan people. Ludo Mlado performs at festivals, concerts,
weddings, and wherever Bulgarian music and dance can bring unique sensations
@ and make an event memorable.
Sarma Brass Band
Sarma Brass Band is the realization of founder Tano Brock's vision to bring traditional Balkan
brass to Boston. It plays a variety of music from Macedonia, Serbia, Greece, and Albania, as
| well as original material.
Julius P. Williams
™™ Julius P.Williams is an award-winning conductor, composer, recording artist, educator,
author, and pianist. After making his conducting debut at Carnegie Hall in 1987, Williams has
conducted orchestras from Dallas to D.C., Sacramento to Savannah, Prague to Paducah, and
many more. He is currently principal conductor of the Longar Ebony Orchestra in New York
City, resident conductor of the Trilogy Opera Company in Newark, New Jersey, and a professor
in Berklee's Composition Department.
Williams has previously served on the faculty at Wesleyan University, the University of
Hartford, and the University of Vermont. He is a member of the board of directors of the Conductors Guild and
an author/editor/producer of The Hall Johnson Collection, a book/CD anthology of traditional African American
spirituals and original songs of praise. Among Williams's many laurels, he has received an honorary doctorate
from Keene State College, a Gracie Allen Award, and ASCAP awards in composition for the past 20 years.
