September 23 TWO DRUMMERS—Percussion Department faculty members Rick
Considine and Larry Finn present original arrangements of blues and
R&B compositions by Stuff, King Curtis, Robben Ford, and Richard
Tee, as well as a drum solo featuring Considine and Finn.

October 1 IDEAS AND OPINIONS/WHEN SPIRITS MOVE AGAIN—Original
acoustic jazz compositions and arrangements as well as music by T.
Monk, C. Corea, K. Wheeler, and D. Clark will be presented by
faculty pianist Tim Ray with Bass Department faculty member Dave
Clark and drummer Jim Gwin. Then, faculty pianist Laszlo Gardony
presents contemporary acoustic jazz originals with special guests Mick
Goodrick and percussionist George Jinda.

October 3 LIVE AT THE B.P.C./APRIL ARABIAN, ORVILLE WRIGHT, DAVE
CLARK, JOHN RAMSAY—Faculty vocalist Bob Stoloff, with special
guest faculty pianist Russell Hoffman, will perform in swing, Latin,
and funk styles with special renditions of some traditional works.
Featured composers will include Kurt Weil, Mick Jagger, Leroy Ander-
son, Lennon-McCartney, and Jascha Heifetz. In the second half,
faculty vocalist April Arabian presents contemporary jazz with faculty
members Orville Wright, piano, Dave Clark, bass, and John Ramsay,
drums.

October 10 BARE BONES—This will be the inaugural concert of the trombone
duo of Brass Department Chair Tom Plsek and Professor Phil Wilson
performing in a self-described musical style of Post-Urban Techno-
Pop. Through use of sound environments, homages to American
popular music, the avant-garde tradition, orchestral classicism, native
American ritual, and other diverse sources, Bare ‘Bones seeks to free
the trombone from preconceived notions about its music use and
show that the trombone has a viable place in the music of the future.
A work by composer Malcolm Goldstein, written especially for this
duo, will be featured.
