Berklee Performance Center Concerts



Summer 1998

June 25 - Jacob 66 - Guitar department faculty member Robin Stone leads a five
piece rock band performing orginal compositions.

July 8 - Five Week Welcome Concert featuring Blues After Dark and Friends-
Assistant Director of the Five Week Summer Performance Program, Robert
Doezema leads his band, Blues After Dark, performing compositions by B.B.
King, Albert King, Freddie King, Little Richard, John Lee Hooker and others.
Special guest performers from the Five-Week Faculty will participate.

July 9 - Ippei’s World: On Fire - Bassist Ippei Ichimaru presents his quintet in a
program of Latin jazz with compositions by Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker as
well as some originals.

July 16 - Just About Jazz/Welcome to Sachiko World - Pianist/composer E.
Selen Gulun leads his quintet performing original jazz. Then pianist/composer
Sachiko Yausi presents original Brazilian and Latin jazz for her quintet.

July 21 - Figa Rosa & the Spice Boys/Dan Benedict - George Shepherd
presents original fusion and funk for his six peice band.

August 3 - The Berklee Rainbow Band - Faculty composer/arranger/trombonist
Phil Wilson leads the Berklee Rainbow Band in an evening of jazz.

August 4- City Music/ SYSTEM- 5 Blow Out Concert

Hosted by J. Curtis Warner, Director of Education and Community Partnerships,
this musical extravaganza will feature Boston’s most talented inner city youth in
concert at the Berklee Performance Center. Showcasing students from a cross
section of Boston public high schools, this evening promises to be exciting for
all! Noteworthy will be the traditional awarding of full tuition SYSTEM-5
Continuing Scholarships to three deserving students who will have successfully
completed Berklee’s five-week summer performance program.

August 6 - Five Week Blow-Out-'m On My Way Home - The Five Week
Summer Performance Program winds up with this concert featuring some of the
program’s best ensemble’s ranging from small groups to big band and the five-
week choir. Musical styles will include rock, jazz and fusion. -

JJune 30 - We Are There! - Ear Training department faculty member soparano
Robin Ginenthal performs songs by Aaron Copland and Charles Ives with Lisa
DeSiro, piano, Kenji Kikuchi, flute and Cathy Chalmers, percussion.
