Berklee Performance Center Concerts

July 19 - Journey to Inland — Moksha is an eight piece Berklee faculty
band led by trumpet player/composer Wayne Naus. The unique instru-
mentation (electric trumpet, Viatar, Bass, Synthesiszer,
EitherwayTheremin, Drums, Tenor Sax, Sound Design and
Percussion)combined with original computer animation, takes each
listener on their own journey through a landscape of sight and sound.
The 70-minute nonstop performance is approximately 40% written music
and 60 % improvised. When asked what style the music is in, the band
prefers to say, “its not about a style...it's about an adventure.”

July 20 - David Fiuczynski’s KiF’ - Eastern exotica groove jams,
experimentations with eastern melodies and heavy western grooves with
Steve Jenkins on bass and Nikki Glaspie on drums presented by faculty
guitarist David Fiuczynski.

July 21 - Daryl Lowery and Instant!Groove — The Hammond B3 is at
the core of the funky soul-jazz grooves that provide a vehicle for improvi-
sations led by faculty saxophonist Daryl Lowery. The highly original
sound of Instant!Groove, with faculty members Rick Peckham, guitar,
Ron Mahdi, acoustic bass, Dennis Montgomery lll, B3, and Yoron Israel,
drums, is reminiscent of the organ-based groups of John Scofield and
draws much of its repertoire from the likes of “Big” John Patton, Ruben
Wilson, Don Patterson and Leon Spencer. This concert will introduce
some brand new music as well as selections from their recently released
CD.

July 22 - Scott Tarulli and Don Lappin — Rock fusion guitarists Tarulli
and Lappin share the stage to play original compositions for drums, bass
and 2 guitars. Songs performed will be drawn from Lappins CD Fine
Lines and Tarullis CD Transitions as well as some new material.

July 28 — Son of a Gun! - Faculty drummer Dave Cowan and ESO
present original rock music along the lines of Jimi Hendrix, Living Colour,
Red Hot Chilli Pepers, Rage Against the Machine and Bad Brains.

August 3 - Phil Wilson’s Rainbow Band presents A Tribute to Count
Basie — Big band jazz with vocals by faculty member Christine Fawson
will be performed under the direction of faculty composer/arranger/
trombonist Phil Wilson in this tribute to the music of the great bandleader
Count Basie.
