David Friend Recital Hall Concerts

September 21-Jetro Da Silva Meets Bob
Winter - Bossa Nova styles by A.C. Jobim
and others will be explored in a duo setting
by Piano department assistant chair Jetro Da
Silva and Professor Bob Winter.

September 22 — Scott Tarulli Group - Faculty
guitarist Scott Tarulli presents his quartet-
Jordan Scanella, bass, Dennis Hughes, keys
and Michael lannantuoni, drums- performing
original compositions from his CD Transitions,
with some new songs and guest vocalist
Johanna Mitchell.

September 23-Sal DiFusco Project — Faculty
guitarist Sal DiFusco is joied by Berklee facul-
ty members Russ Hoffman, keys; Joe
Santerre, bass; Daryl Lowry, tenor sax; Eguie
Castrillo, percussion; as well as Maurizio
Zottarelli, drums and special guest drummer
Mike Mangini performing compositions by
Adam Rogers, Mike Stern, CAB, Sal DiFusco
and others.

September 27-Leroy Southers Memorial
Concert - this concert will pay tribute to the
late Leroy Southers, Professor in the composi-
tion department who taught at Berklee for
eleven years. Members of the department
and administration have composed eight
new works to be premiered at this concert.
Compositions by Armand Qualliotine, Marti
Epstein, Allen Levines, Harry Chalmiers, Rick
Applin, Andrew List, Arnold Friedman and
Yakov Guabanov will be performed as well as
a piece by Southers.

September 28 - Suzanna Sifter Trio -
Contemporary acoustic jazz standards with
special arrangements for piano trio will be
presented by faculty pianist Suzanna Sifter
with faculty bassist David Clark and Assistant
Chair of Percussion Yoron Israel, drums.
Some selections from Suzanna's latest CD,
"Awakening" will be performed.

September 29-Berklee Faculty Saxophone
Quartet — The Berklee Faculty Saxophone
Quartet performs mostly jazz while paying
homage to traditional classical sax quartet
repertoire from the last century. Music by
Jerry Dodgion, Thelonious Monk, Tim Mayer,
Shannon Leclaire, Albinez and others will be
performed by faculty saxophonists Bruce
Nifong, Shannon LeClaire, Dino Govoni and
Tim Mayer.

September 30- Blues From Room 445 —
Faculty guitarists Jim Kelly and Mike Williams
present a program of blues and jazz featur-
ing original compositions.

October 1-Brian Transeu

October 4 - The Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble
performs André Previn’s “Four Songs” and

_“Vocalise” for soprano, cello and piano,

selections from Alberto Ginastera’s

“Twelve American Preludes” for piano, Royal
Brantley's “Three Love Songs for

High Voice and Cello” and 17th and 18th
century Italian arias, arranged for

voice and string quartet by Masami Tomihisa.
With performers Robin

Ginenthal, soprano, Lisa DeSiro, piano, Rob
Bethel, cello, Gabriel Solomon

and Leah Bartell, violins, and Noralee Walker,
viola.

October 5-Rosewell Rudd ~ Renowned
Trombonist Rosewell Rudd will perform with
Berklee's Music of Ornette Coleman ensem-
ble under the direction of Brass Department
faculty member Jeff Galindo.
