David Friend Recital Hall Concerts
May 2 — 2:00 p.m. Music of Cedar Walton Ensemble- Music by the
famed pianist directed by ensemble faculty member Marcello Pelliteri.
May 2 — 4:00 p.m. Music of Dave Holland Ensemble- Music from the
wrenowned bassist and composer directed by ensemble department
faculty member Lello Molinari.
May 2 — 7:30 p.m. Quiet World - Original Contemporary Fusion — Faculty
member Tiger Okoshi presents his student fusion and contemporary jazz
ensembles performing Okoshi originals. Focusing on the color , the
shape, blend, brightness/darkness and harmonics of each instrument
the arrangements are designed for the soloist to tell long stories and
develop mature contents of improvisational solos.
May 3 — 2:00 p.m. — The Music of Manhattan Transfer — Under the
direction of faculty vocalist Cheryl Bentyne this student ensembles
performs from the repertoire of the renowned vocal ensemble.
May 3 — 4:00 p.m. Jazz Compostion Ensemble, In Concert — Jazz Compo-
sition department chair Ken Pullig presents student compositions by
Kozo Omori, Andrfreia Pinto-Correia, Luis Rodriguez, Nick Graham, Adria
Smith and Kayo Yoshida performed by Berklee student instrumentalists.
May 3 — 7:00 p.m. Octafusion — Scott Deogburn — An Octet performs
original high energy fusion compositions and improvisations directed by
faculty member Scott DeOgburn.
May 4 — 2:00 p.m. Music of ECM Ensemble- Compositions by Kenny
Wheeler, Dave Holland, Keith Jarrett and Jan Garbarek will be performed
under the direction of ensemble faculty member Bruno Raberg.
May 4 — 7:00 p.m. Music of James Brown Ensemble/Music of Jimi
Hendrix Ensemble Faculty member Kenwood Dennard presents three of
his ensembles performing Music by James Brown, Jimi Hendrix and
others. s
