Berklee Performance Center Concerts

SPRING ‘86

SURGING FORWARD — The Fringe, led by faculty saxo-
phonist George Garzone with drummer Bob Gullotti and bassist
Mike Zavarella, perform original, high-energy, freely impro-
vised jazz.

Double Concert — BROUHAHA/MUSIC FOR THE HIGH MIES-
TRESS OF OUTNESS — Bassist/composer Ed Broms leads his
quintet in a set of original progressive fusion and compositions
by Frank Zappa and Ornette Coleman. In the second haif, senior
drummer Jonathan Edwards presents contemporary small band
Jjazz with special guests from NYC, clarinetist Perry Robinson and
saxophonist Mark Whitecage.

UP YOUR MAINSTREAM — A medium-size, all faculty big band
directed by faculty composer/arranger Bud Billings will perform
modern jazz arrangements of standards and original compositions.

FELTSATRONICS — F'aculty saxophonist Randy Felts leads a sextet
in a program of original techno-pop-rock-fusion with special guest,
faculty guitarist Bill Brinkley.

GREG McPHERSON — Faculty composer/arranger/percussionist
Greg McPherson leads his small ensemble in an evening of contem-
porary jazz.

MODERN INDUSTRY — Original compositions, mixing elements of
Jjazz, funk and spoken word in a variety of settings, will be performed
by faculty guitarist Anthony Peterson and his group, Voices of Modern
Industry.

Double Concert — LOCOMOTIVE TRUTH/SIDNEY OF THE BUSH 11
— Original progressive rock by Locomotive Truth, a quartet led by
drummer Dan Bash and keyboardist Jake Mandel, opens this double
concert. In the second half, trombonist Steve Armour leads his trio
and quintet in a program of contemporary acoustic jazz.

SOLITUDE — Senior trombonist/composer Delfeayo Marsalis pre-
sents an evening of jazz in a variety of settings from quartet to large
ensemble. Special guests include drummer Jason Marsalis, bass-
ist Bob Hurst and faculty members Donald Brown (piano) and
Walter Beasley (sax).

BILL MOBLEY, BILL PIERCE AND FRIENDS — An all-star group led
by faculty trumpeter Bill Mobley and featuring faculty saxophonist
Bill Pierce performs originai modern jazz with special guest, guitarist
Joe Cohn.
