Berklee Performance Center Concerts



April 20 The Berklee Concert Wind Ensemble—Under
thedirection of Composition Department Assistant Chair Greg
Fritze, this ensemble of 45 woodwind, brass, and percussionists
will perform music by Karel Husa, Aaron Copland, John Barnes
Chance, and Percy Grainger. The concert will feature 1994 Wind
Ensemble Composition Award winner Devon Cox in his composi-
tion “Music for Winds and Percussion” and 1994 Concerto Winner
Kazuaki Nihonyanagi performing “Concerto for Piano and Winds”
by Igor Stravinsky.

April 21 The Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra—
Renowned faculty trumpeter, arranger, composer Herb Pomeroy
leads the most prestigious ensemble in the college in a program
of contemporary big band music.

April 25 Oh Lord, You Take Control—Ensemble
Department faculty member Dennis Montgomery III directs
Berklee’s Reverence Gospel Ensemble in a program of traditional
and contemporary gospel music featuring arrangements by
Donald Lawrence, James Moore, Dennis Montgomery, and others
will be performed. '

April 28 Singers’ Showcase—In its 11th year, the
Performance Division’s Yo Team Productions presents Singers’
Showcase. This presentation will feature nine of Berklee’s finest
vocalists including Jonathan Royal, LaQuinta Brown, Joe Freel,
Elizabeth Withers, Stefanie Kelly, Deanna Dellacioppa, Myron
Davis, Angela Perry, and Megan Gass performing the music of
Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, Oleta Adams, Joe Cocker, Toni
Braxton, Shawn Colvin, and many others in a variety of instru-
mental settings and arrangements written especially for this event.
