David Friend Recital Hall Concerts

April 18 — The Songwriters’ Circle - The Songwriters’ Circle is an
annual event presented by the Songwriting Department which
feaures four singer/songwriters selected by invitation from the
Songwriting faculty. This year’s concert will feature the following
writers: Sarah Fimm, Jesse Terry, Michael Schmid and Liz
Pappademus. The purpose of the Songwriters’ Circle is to provide
a venue which focuses more on the song rather than the arrange- 2
ment, therefore the presentations will be the usual solo or duo
formats. Support your local songwriters!

April 19 — 7:00 p.m. Motown Classes—- Voice department faculty
member Lawrence Watson presents some of Berklee’s most
talented singers and instrumentalists in a concert of Motown and
soul music.

April 23 — 1:00 p.m. Music of the Spheres — Ensemble depart-
ment faculty member Dave Samuels performs with Alain Mallet,
piano, Oscar Stagnaro, bass and Mark Walker, drums.

3:30 p.m. Double Duty - Kicking off ensemble week faculty vocal-
ist Nancy Morris presents is joined by faculty from the ear training
department and the Double Duty ensemble where students both
play and sing. They will be performing a variety of pop/rock/
country compositions including music fromKenny Loggins, Dolly
Parton and Janis Joplin. Faculty vocalists Paul Stiller, Tom Baskett,
Yumiko Matsuoka are joined by faculty keyboardist Mark Shilansky.

7:30 p.m. The Berklee String Orchestra — Under the direction of
faculty cellist Eugene Friesen, this ensemble will perform a variety
of contemporary compositions for strings.
