Berklee Performance Center Concerts
July 20 - Clouds- Faculty vocalist Gwendolyn Leathers presents a
potpourri of contemporary jazz, funk, disco and rhythm & blues for
a large ensemble featuring Berklee faculty and alumni. Performers
includ Berklee faculty members David Cowan, drums and Lawrence
Watson, vocals.
July 26 - Moksha - Presented by faculty trumpeter Wayne Naus,
Moksha features faculty members Jon Finn, guitar, Michael
Farquharson bass, Berke McKelvey, lyricon, Dino Govoni, tenor
sax, bob Schlink, viotar, and Joe Mulholland, piano with John Di
Santo drums. Integrating spontaneous group and individual impro-
visation with electronic sound processing, the group Moksha takes
each listener on their own unique journey through time and space.
August 3 - Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra- Big band jazz originals
in swing, Latin, and contemporary styles will be presented by
faculty trombonist/composer/arranger Ben Elkins conducting the
19 piece Back Bay Brass Jazz orchestra.
August 8-System 5 Blow-Out- Hosted by J. Curtis Warner, Director
of Education and Community Partnerships, this musical extrava- “
ganza will feature Boston’s most talented inner city youth in
concert at the Berklee Performance Center. Showcasing students
from a cross section of Boston public high schools, this evening
promises to be exciting for all! Noteworthy will be the traditional
awarding of full tuition SYSTEM-5 Continuing Scholarships to three
deserving students who will have successfully completed Berklee's
five-week summer performance program.
August 9 - Five Week Blow-Out-I’'m On My Way Home - The Five
Week Summer Performance Program winds up with this concert
featuring some of the program’s best ensemble’s ranging from
small groups to big band and the five-week choir. Musical styles
will include rock, jazz and fusion.
