SPRING 1987
Double Concert — FAIR PLAY/TRIBUTARY — Faculty
guitarist/composer Rick Peckham presents a quintet playing a cross
section of music from the jazz tradition and originals in a
contemporary style..In the second half faculty bassist/composer
Bruno Raberg leads a twelve-piece ensemble in a program of
contemporary jazz fusion featuring faculty members Bruce Barth,
piano, Greg Badolato, saxophone, and Ken Cervenka, trumpet.
JAMES MOODY — As part of Berklee’s Black Music Celebration for
Black History Month, famed saxophonist and flutist James Moody will
perform with a quartet including faculty bassist John Neves.
JAVA MAN — Faculty composer/pianist Bruce Barth presents original
jazz compositions performed by a sextet that includes faculty mem-
bers Allan Chase, Greg Badolato, saxophones, Ken Cervenka, trumpet,
and Bruno Raberg, bass.
BERNSTEIN — WITH LANGEFELD — FROM THIS POINT ON —
Commercial Arranging Department faculty member Lisa Joy Bernstein
teams with Leah Langefeld to present an evening of original pop-rock
compositions and arrangements in a variety of instrumental settings.
BIG BAND EXPRESS — Faculty trumpeter/arranger Wayne Naus
directs an all-star big band of Kenton, Herman, Rich and Ferguson
alumni now on the Berklee faculty featuring arrangements by faculty
members Dick Lowell, Bob Pilkington and Greg Hopkins.
Double Concert — FLYING ELEPHANT LANDS! / BRUNO DESTREZ
“NEW QUARTET” — Composer/arranger Tony Makarome opens this
two-part concert with an eighteen-piece orchestra performing original
contemporary music including his arrangements of pieces by Mozart,
Ravel and Stravinsky, chamber music and a choral work by
Paulo Malaguti featuring the CopaCorale. In the second half bassist
Bruno Destrez presents his quartet playing modern jazz with special
guest guitarist Mick Goodrick and faculty members Christian Jacob,
piano, and Ian Froman, drums.
ALLAN CHASE TRIO AND QUARTET — Original compositions of
jazz blended with ethnic music, contemporary composition and funk
in trio and quartet settings is presented by faculty saxophonist
Allan Chase with faculty members Jon Damian, guitar, and
Bruno Raberg, bass. ‘-
Double Concert — AGENT / PLAY IT AGAIN, SAMSON —
Guitarists/vocalists Jim Circosta and Steve Hoevertsz open this concert
with original pop/rock music played by the sextet Agent. The second
half features bassist Brian Hamm leading a quintet playing funk and
jazz compositions by Chick Corea, Steps Ahead, Tom Scott and Hamm.
