Biographical Summary

Trumpet player and vocalist Christine Fawson (1980- ) grew up in Ukiah, California. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2002 and taught as Associate Professor in the Brass department from 2003 to 2017. During her tenure, Fawson originated the class Singing for Brass Players, participated in student audition and admission evaluations, and taught additional courses in the Ear Training/Harmony, Vocal, Performance Studies, and Ensemble departments. From 2013 to 2014, Fawson served as interim chair of the Brass Department, the first woman to hold this appointment. She was a member of the vocal jazz ensemble Syncopation from 2002 to 2012 and a member of Sherrie Maricle's DIVA Jazz Orchestra from 2004 to 2009. Fawson relocated to New Mexico in 2017, where she performs, teaches, and produces local concerts.
