Berklee Performance Center Concerts October 31 - Takana’s Sextet & Groovin'Girls/Schwing? - Pianist, composer, arranger Takana Miyamoto leads her sextet in a program of original jazz and fusion. In the second half drummer Antonio Sinchez presents an evening of jazz, Latin and fusion including originals and standards with featured soloists including Dave Barraza, saxophone, Vincent Borgeaux, and Leo Blanco, piano and Christian Bausch, and Carlos Sanoja, bass. November 4 - WindsDay Concert - George Coleman/Ingrid Jensen/Faculty Brass Ensemble - The annual WindsDay event culminates in this concert featuring legendary saxophone great George Coleman and his group, Berklee alum trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, and the Berklee Faculty Brass Ensemble, with Greg Hopkins, director; Scott DeOgburn, Ken Pullig, Jeff Stout, Ken Cervenka, trumpets, Tony Lada, Bob Pilkington, Tom Plsek, trombones; Marshall Seally, Horn; Greg Fritze, tuba; Consuelo Candelaria, piano, Dave Clark, bass, Bob Tamagni, drums. November 6 - Stardom/Funk Disciples - Student vocalist, composer, arranger Brian A. Glover presents original and standard Rhythm & Blues and soul music for large ensemble. Then Astutomo Ishigaki and the “Funk Disciples” perform Funk and Rhythm & Blues by James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Larry Graham, Marvin Gaye and others. November 12 - Vocal Summit in Concert - Voice department faculty member Bob Stoloff presents the a capella group Vocal Summit in a program utilizing "spontaneous improvisation" that creatively integrates music, theatre and movement in musical styles from jazz to the classics. November 13 - New Notes on the Staff - The Vocal Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of faculty member Art LaPierre, opens with jazz compositions by Miles Davis, Jerome Kern and Johhny Mercer. Then new VoiceDepartment faculty members Did Stewart, Lisa Thorson and Donna McElroy perform accompanied by a faculty rhythm section of Joe Mullholland, piano, Dave Clark, bass and Bob Stoloff, drums. November 14 - The Berklee Thelonious Monk Ensemble/Brian Lewis - Post- Bop original compositions by Thelonious Monk performed by this Berklee ensemble under the direction of Assistant Chair of the Guitar Department, Rick Peckham. November 19 - Gregg’nhemk Soundings - Under the direction of Department Chair Jay Kennedy, compositions and arrangements by the faculty of the Contemporary Writing and Production Department in a potpourri of styles will be performed by a large band featuring Berklee faculty members.
