September 29 - Tribute to Alan Dawson - The Boston Jazz Society and Berklee College present a salute to Alan Dawson, the late legendary drummer and teacher to benefit the George Alan Dawson Scholarship Fund. Guests include Max Roach, James Williams and the 1.C.U.; Phil Wilson; Billy Pierce; Andy McGhee; John Lockwood; Shawn Monteiro, vocals; Jimmy Slyde and Josh Hilberman, tap and Ron Della Chiesa, M.C. Tickets are $15.00, General Admission, the concert begins at 3:00p.m. September 30 - Last Day of September - Piano faculty member Makoto Takenaka presents songs with an Autumn theme in solo, duo, trio and quartet settings drawn from Japanese traditional music, Jazz standards and the classical repertoire. October 1 - Of She We Sing: A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald/October Oasis - A vocal tribute to the late, great Ella Fitzerald is presented by faculty members Gaye Tolan-Hatfield and Roberta Radley. Other featured vocalists include Chris Adams and Ruthie Ristich. Along with guitarist Scott Free, the group will be backed by pianist Brad Hatfield and his trio. In the second half, faculty pianist Suzanna Sifter presents contemporary acoustic jazz originals by Greg Hopkins and Sifter performed by an all- star faculty group including Tony Lada, trombone, Dino Govoni, wood- winds, Bobby Rodgers, guitar, James Whitney, bass and Bob Tamagni, drums. October 2 - The Abigail Aronson Quartet - Performing original compo- sitions, a guitar-oriented jazz fusion quartet, including Berklee faculty member Norm Zocher, bass, pianist Bevan Manson, and Brooke Sefferman, drums, is led by faculty guitarist Abigail Aronson. October 3 - Gaze Upon the Moon/An Evening With T Fields - Original Pop/Funk compositons by guiatarist/vocalist Kai Turnbull will be per- formed by his quartet. In the second half, faculty member Chris Noyes presents Transuniverse Fields performing original instrumental and vocal rock.
