Berklee Performance Center Concerts -’ ® w o Lo ~ April 29 - Chord Scale Madness/Lin Biviano Big Band Jazz Ensemble- Under the direction of Jazz Composition department faculty member Jackson Schultz, some of the strongest student arrangements from the “Voicings Derived from Chord Scales” course will be performed by a large en- semble. Then Ensemble department faculty member Lin Biviano presents big band jazz in the style of the Maynard Ferguson Band with arrangements and compositions of Don Sebesky, Slide Hampton Willie Maiden, Ernie Wilkins and Biviano. April 30 - Le Hot Club de Berklee - Under the direction of faculty composer/arranger/trombonist Phil Wilson, jazz fusion originals will be performed by one of Berklee’s premiere en- sembles. May 1 - Shout!-The Reverence Gospel Ensemble & Over- joyed- An evening of contemporary and traditional gospel music performed by Berklee’s Reverence Gospel Ensemble will feature compositions by Donald Lawrence, Johnathan Hall, Jules Bartholomew, David Frazier and ensemble director faculty member Dennis Montgomery III. Berklee’s new small gospel ensemble, Overjoyed, will also perform. May 2 - Viento De Sal /Johnny Richard’s Cuban Fire - Student Composer /arranger Pedro Barboza presents original contemporary Venezuelan music for large ensemble. Then The Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of faculty member Ben Elkins, presents Cuban Fire, a seven movement suite for jazz orchestra composed and arranged by Johnny Richards and originally recorded by the Stan Kenton Orches- tra.
