Berklee Performance Center Concerts September 26 - The Be-Bop Guitars/Norman Zocher Quartet - An all-faculty band of six guitars, bass and drums, under the direction of John Baboian will perform bop and mainstream jazz compositions written and arranged by group members as well as arrangements by faculty composers/arrangers Jerry Seeco and Ben Elkins. Guitar faculty in the Be-Bop guitars are John Baboian, Al Defino, Garrison Fewell, John Marasco, John Pezanelli and John Wilkins. They are joined by Ron McWhorter-Mahdi, bass, Jon Hazilla, drums and special guest Jerry Seeco, trumpet. Then faculty guitarist Norman Zocher presents contemporary jazz and fusion compositions with faculty member Abigail Aronson, bass, Bevan Manson, piano and Brooke Sofferman, drums. September 28 - The Tony Lada Quartet - Faculty trombonist, composer and arranger Tony Lada presents his quartet performing jazz standards and their original compositions and arrangements that integrate blues, swing, latin and other diverse musical elements. Featuring faculty members. Suzanna Sifter, piano, John Repucci, bass and Dave Weigert, drums, the program will include compositions by C. Parker, B. Strayhorn, Oliver Nelson, Cole Porter and Tony Lada. October 2 - The Jane Miller Group - Guitar dpeartment faculty member Jane Miller plays originals and arrangements of jazz standards by composers such as Gershwin, Young, Shorter and Rodgers and Hart. The group includes Bob Simonelli, bass, Don Kirby, drums and special guest faculty pianist Joe Mulholland. October 3 - Brian Lewis and the Jazz Workshop - This concert will feature jazz compositions by faculty member trumpeter Brian Lewis. Also featured will be Berklee faculty members Dennis Cecere, piano, Paul Elmen, Bruce Nifong, saxo- phones, Larry McClellan, trombone, John Pierce, bass and Casey Scheurell, drums and student vibist Wolf Kerschek. October 4 - Blue Notes/Frank Wilkins”Welcome to My World” - Faculty guitarist Craig Hlady presents jazz, blues and rock originals performed by his quartet. Then pianist, composer and arranger Frank Wilkins presents his large ensemble perform- ing original music with jazz, Afro-Cuban, funk and fusion influences.
