PROCLAMATION

Berklee College of Music, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is the first college in
the world to offer degree-level studies in jazz and popular music; and

Herb Pomeroy has been a cornerstone of the school since 1955, helping to shape the
cumiculum, character and direction of Berklee throughout the years; and

Herb Pomeroy, a revered educator, innovative bandleader, and gifted trumpeter, is
retiring from teaching after 40 years at Berklee with all good wishes of his colleagues and
students past and present; and

Herb Pomeroy is being honored by many of his former students, now gone on to renown
of their own, by donating their time and considerable talents to create the Herb Pomeroy
Tribute Concert, featuring works written specifically in Herb's honor; NOW

I, THOMAS M. MENINO, Mayor of the City of Boston, do hereby proclaim
Saturday April 29, 1995 to be

HERB POMEROY DAY

in the City of Boston and | urge all my fellow Bostonians to join me in celebrating the
accomplishments and contributions of this outstanding artist in adding to the quality of life
