Berklee Performance Centér Concerts February 27 Bass Department Student Concert - Duos, trios, quartets and more featuring the bass in traditional jazz, funk and fusion styles will be performed by student bassists under the direction of department chair Rich Appleman. The February 28 Faculty (at large) Composers Concert This concert is the sixth of an eight concert series showcasing the talents of Berklee’s faculty composers. Of the more than fifty composers being represented in the series, the composers represented on February 28 will be Richard Boulanger, Yumiko Matsuoka, Warrick Carter, Ken Pullig, Ted Pease, Barrie Nettles, Garrison Fewell, Steve Rochinski, Bruno Rdberg, Wayne Naus, Russell Hoffmann, and Darrell Katz. In this concert over fifty performers will be performing in over ten different ensembles March 2 Stravinsky, Ravel & Satie; Songs of Our Century - Faculty members soprano Robin Ginenthal, pianist Louis Stewart and conductor David Callahan offer and evening of chamber works by Igor Stravinsky and Maurice Ravel including Stravinsky's Balmont songs and Ravel's Mallarmé songs. Piano and vocal music of Eric Satie and Ravel will also be performed. March 6 50 years of Jazz Piano-Part One - The Piano department presents a faculty concert featuring Dean Earl, Bob Winter, Yuki Arimasa, and Bruce Thomas performing piano music from the jazz repertoire. March 7 50 years of Jazz Piano-Part Two - The Piano department presents a faculty concert with Tim Ray, and featuring guest artist Dominic Cicchetti perform- ing piano music from the jazz repertoire. March 8 Teodross Avery Quartet/Alone in a Jacuzzi - Saxophonist Teodross Averty leads his quartet with Charles rai, pinao, faculty member Ron Mahdi, bass and Mark Simmons, drums, in a program of jazz originals and standards. Then composer/arranger Michel Barbaud presents a 16 piece band performing contem- porary originals, “music about colors, love and feelings” with influences from Ravel, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and the Beatles. March 9 Jazz Vocal Series Faculty vocalist/pianist Maggi Scott presents perfor- mances by vocal students singing jazz standards accompanied by a faculty trio. March 13 Rock Arranging Live The annual Rock Arranging Live concert high- lights the best music written by the students interested in writing and performing in the Rock/Pop idiom. The concert will present original compositions as well as new arrangements of standard rock/pop repertoire, featuring some of the college’s best vocalists. Although most of the perofrmanc ewill be live, the enxemble will perform along with some sequences and pre-recorded materials. This years show will present a special guest, faculty guitarist Craig Hlady and some of his new rock/pop compositions. The Performance Center at Berklee College of Music is a Ticketmaster outlet.
