Berklee Performance Center Concerts December 5 The Berklee Thelonious Monk Ensemble/the Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra - Guitar department Assistant Chair Rick Peckham leads a 5 piece ensemble in a program of contemporary bebop standards composed by Thelonious Monk. In the second half, faculty trombonist/composer/arranger Ben Elkins leads the Back Bay Brass through a program of swing, Latin, and other big band music. December 6 The Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra - Renowned faculty composer, arranger and trumpeter Herb Pomeroy leads the college's most prestigious ensemble in a program of contemporary big band music. December 7 The Concert Wind Ensemble - Under the direction of Composition Department Assistant Chair Greg Fritze, this 45-piece wind, brass and percussion ensemble will perform 20th century music by Persichetti, Bernstein, Husa and others including faculty composer Arthur Welwood and student composer Paul Rowen. December 8 Be Encouraged-The Reverence Gospel Ensemble - An evening of traditional and contemporary Gospel music by composers Jules Bartholomew, David Frzier, Donavan Jackson, Clay Bogan III, Kayla Parker, Marc Copeland, Robert Lewis, Jermain Nelson and Dennis Montgomery III will be performed by Berklee's Reverence Gospel Ensemble under the direction of faculty member Dennis Montgomery IIL Special guests include Freda Battle as guest conductor and a new Berklee Gospel ensemble called "Overjoyed." December 13 An Evening with the Berklee Rainbow Band - Faculty trombonist/composer/arranger Phil Wilson presents an evening of jazz fusion for this large ensmeble with strings and featuring special guest saxophonist Chris Hollyday.
