Berklee Performance Center Concerts October 17 Quintet - Faculty trumpeter Ken Cervenka leads a quintet, with faculty members Tim Ray, piano, Rick Peckham, guitar, Bruno Raberg, bass and Dave Weigert, drums, through a program of mainstream jazz originals and stan- dards. October 19 Free Music (For All)/Funk-Sexiest - Bassist Florian Feuser is joined by faculty guitarist Rick Peckham and drummer Bertram Lehmann performing original contemporary jazz. In the second half vocalist, composer, arranger You-ji Japanese-Soul leads the Funksexymobsters in a program of Pop-Funk'n’ Rock originals and selections by Prince and Stevie Wonder. Bass Days Concerts October 24 Bass Days Concert-John Clayton - Renowned Double bass player, composer and arranger John Clayton will perform with his group as part of Bass Days activities. October 25 Jeff Covell Trio/Anthony Vitti Group - Acoustic jazz standards and originals by the Jeff Covell Trio, with Rich Appleman, bass, Steve Turner drums and Jeff Covell, piano, will open this faculty concert followed by the Anthony Vitti group with faculty members Kevin Barry, guitar, Larry Finn, drums, Russ Hoffman, piano, and Jackie Beard, saxophone, playing funk originals. October 26 Jimmy Earl - A concert by electric bassist Jimmy Earl, currently with Chick Corea’s Electrik Band, is offered as part of Bass Days activities. October 27 Fall Together - This annual Jazz Composition Department concert will feature premieres of works by faculty composers Ted Pease, Ken Pullig, Phil Wilson, Greg Hopkins, Bruce Thomas, Bob Pilkington and Marc Rossi with guest soloists String Department Chair Matt Glaser and the legendary Herb Pomeroy, trumpet. October 30 The Commodores Navy Jazz Band/The Berklee Buddy Rich Ensemble - This concert will feature two big bands, the Navy Jazz Band, the Commodores and Berklee’s Buddy Rich Band performing classic big band arrange- ments in swing, Latin, funk and jazz styles.
