feileieio A Berklee Performance Center Concerts « €rs in September 27 Philipp Van Endert Group/Penumbra—Original jazz fusion compositions by P. Van Endert, Alex Gunia and Bret Willmott will be performed by the guitarist Philipp Van Endert’s 8-piece ensemble with special guest Guitar Department faculty member Bret Willmott. Then pianist Steve Hamilton presents “Penumbra,” ECM-style jazz compositions by Steve Swallow, Chick Corea, and Tommy Smith. The Steve Hamilton quartet includes Berklee alum Tommy Smith on tenor saxophone, bassist Howard Britz, and faculty member Ian Froman, drums. October 4 An Evening of Guitar Music/Ballistic Planet—Guitar Department faculty member Norman Zocher presents his quartet, with bassist/vocalist Abigail Aronson, alto saxophonist Doug Yates, and drummer Bob Place, in an eclectic blend of guitar-oriented jazz, funk and fusion. In the second half, Ensemble Department faculty member Bob Schlink offers rock originals for his quartet featuring the viotar, a combination violin/guitar he invented. October 5 The Vision/Sophie Dunér Orchestra-Live—Pianist Cornelius Caludio Kreusch presents original compositions from his recording entitled 7he Vision, performed by his quintet. Then, drummer Bertram Lehmann presents the Sophie Dunér Orchestra featuring Berklee alumna Sophie Dunér, vocals and faculty member Bruno Raberg, bass performing original jazz compositions. October 6 Bruno Raberg & Friends//Unidentified—Faculty member bassist Bruno Raberg presents a program of original compositions in a contemporary jazz style with influences of Scandinavian folk music. His quintet includes faculty members Consuelo Candelaria, piano, and Rick Peckham, guitar, as well as Berklee alum Ole Mathisen, saxes, and Johan Svensson, drums. In the second half, Berklee faculty member Darell Katz presents the Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra, a 16- piece big band, performing original contemporary jazz with special guest guitar department faculty member Garrison Fewell. October 11 Mingus Among Us/Johannes Wollman & the Mooseworks Collective—Drummer Sebastiaan de Krom presents a program featuring the compositions of legendary bassist/composer/arranger Charles Mingus performed by his 7-piece ensemble. In the second half, pianist/composer/arranger Johannes Wollman presents original modern jazz for his quintet. October 12 Tribute to Heraldo Do Monte/The Paci/Bosse Collaboration— Brazilian jazz originals and compositions by Heraldo Do Monte, Toninho Horta and Hermeto Pascoal performed by a 6-piece ensemble under the direction of guitarist Reginaldo Frazatto, Jr. In the second half, guitarist Dion Paci joins with guitarist Berklee alum Ron Bosse to present contemporary jazz originals. Pianist Steve Hamilton, drummer Sebastiaan de Krom and bassist Mark Dubek round out the ensemble. The Performance Center at Berklee College of Music is a Ticketmaster outlet.
