The Emergence of Insanity

This is a story about a ybung man by the name of Joe, whov
lived with his typical, American family, in a typical town
called’Hicksville. :

Hicksville ; '
Hicksville is the place to raise your children,

- Hicksville is the place for a corn-cob pipe,
Hicksville's the place to sit on the porch now, ,
Hicksville's the place to watch your tomatoes grow ripe.
Hicksville's got a 3-page phone directory, '

And you can watch old Jasper ride his horse,

well don't you worry about the local protection,
'Cause Elmer Fudd's the head of the police force.
Hicksville is the place to know what's happening,
Hicksville's got no hippies, you bet your butt,
And we don't like none of that rock'n roll music,
But stereotypin' like this can get'cha in a rut.

Well, Joe felt there was something missing in his life, but
he couldn't quite figure out what it was. In search for an
answer, he headed for '"The Big City."

‘ "And here we are in the Big City! Now to meet that seer

of all - past, present, and future, Dr. Rectal!"

Well Dr. Rectal told Joe about his Colorless, Cosmic, Conscious-
ness Pill, which makes all events, things, and time into a Sonic
Sound Spectrum (also called "music" by some). Dr. Rectal explained
‘that this pill may help him (Joe) realize what the emptiness is
inside him, and that he may come upon '"The Cosmic Trooth". So

Joe took the pill, and soon the sounds began to swirl and swirl,
faster and faster .... ; ;
