July 10 July 16 July 17 July 30 July 31 August 7 2l E N7 Performance Center Concerts SUMMER 1991 FIVE-WEEK WELCOME CONCERT—TOo kick off this summer’s Five-Week Performance Program, assistant directors Dave Weigert and Robert Doezema present a two-part concert featuring many of the program’s faculty. Drummer Weigert opens the concert with fusion compositions by John Scofield, Mike Stern, and Bob Berg performed by his sextet with five-week faculty members Daryl Lowery, tenor, and Bert Cotten, guitar. In the second half, guitarist Doezema presents “Blues after Dark,” with faculty mem- bers Herman Johnson, tenor, Rick Considine, drums, and Dennis Montgomery, piano and vocals. THE BILL MOORE BAND—Five-week program faculty guitarist Tom Stein presents the Bill Moore Quartet performing classic rock hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. DONT LOOK SO SERIOUS—Faculty guitarist Jon Finn presents an evening of original instrumental rock with faculty members Joe Santerre, bass, and Alan Hall, drums. MASS-LOVE-FIESTA II/THE BACK BAY BRASS JAZZ ORCHES- TRA—Faculty guitarist John Dirac begins the evening with the Celebration Big Band performing original contemporary jazz in the style of Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, and Cecil Taylor. In the second half, the Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra performs big band jazz arrangements by leader faculty trombonist/composer/arranger Ben Elkins. THE BRIDGES FIVE-WEEK BLOW-OUT: I'M ON MY WAY HOME
