In this composition featuring a sextet of antiphonal brass, the expressive woodwind passages alternate with the marcato brass to form a parallel with the ancient form. John Gilmore, the band's Assistant Conduétor, is making his conducting debut tonight. Provence As its name implies, this suite is a tour of five areas in France with each movement making use of tunes and rhythms which are common to the regions. Darius Milhaud was one of the famous ''French Six", a group of composers who tried to incorporate dance hall music and jazz into their "'serious'" compositions. Honegger and Poulenc were also members of '"les six'". American Folk Rhapsody No. 3 Clare Grundman (bh. 2913) Mr. Grundman has written four "Folk Rhapsodies'" all basically medlies of famous American folk tunes. He has been able to keep the tunes recognisable while still allowing for his own unique settings and harmonizations. The folk tunes used in this Rhapsody are Colorado Trail, Git Along Little Dogies, Carless Love and Turkey in the Straw.
