Berklee Performance Center Concerts February 28 The Bass Department Student Concert - Bass Department Chair Rich Appleman presents an evening of jazz, funk, and fusion performed by specially selected bass students in a variety of instrumental settings. March 1 Upfront/Tales From Mythology - Drummer Joachim Leyh opens this evening’s performance with his quartet playing original jazz compositions and works by Chic Corea, Bill Evans and Joe Henderson. Featured performers include Steve Hamilton, piano, Matt Pavolka, bass and Bill Vint, saxophone. In the second half, contemporary jazz originals and compositions by Chic Corea will be performed by Alexander Orfanos and his quintet. March 3 The Commercial Arranging Department Spring Concert - Original compositions and arrangements by faculty members in the Commercial Arranging Department will be performed by a 40 piece orchestra and choir. March 7 The Secrets of Arcanum/Stripes - Pianist Raz Ytzhaky presents contemporary jazz and original compositions performed by the Arcanum Trio with special guest Jurg Wickihalder, soprano saxophone. In the second half vibraphonist Matthias Lupri offers a program of original fusion compositions performed by his sextet. March 8 The Piano Department Student Concert - Solo piano and small groups featuring specially selected students in the Piano department will perform in a variety of musical styles under the direction of department chair Paul Schmeling.
