April 14 April 15 April 22 April 26 April 27 April 29 Berklee Performance Center Concerls SPRING 1993 GUITAR NIGHT—In a new format this year, Guitar Night presents six of Berklee’s top rock, jazz, blues, and fusion student guitarists will be individually and collectively featured in a fast-paced program of covers and originals. Two all-star student rhythm sections will assist in the Guitar Department’s biggest annual event. THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA—Renowned faculty trumpeter/arranger/composer Herb Pomeroy leads the most presti- gious ensembile in the college in a program of contemporary big band music. SINGERS SHOWCASE—The Performance Studies Department’s Yo Team Productions presents Singers Showcase, featuring 12 of Berklee’s finest vocalists performing the music of Chaka Khan, Walter Hawkins, Donny Hathaway, Brian McKnight, Aretha Franklin, and many others in a variety of instrumental settings and arrangements written especially for this event. YOU CAN MAKE IT—Berklee’s Reverence Gospel Ensemble, under the direction of faculty member Dennis Montgomery III and assisted by Ensemble Department Chair Orville Wright, will perform tradi- tional and contemporary gospel music compositions by John P. Kee, David Allen, and Dennis Montgomery III. THE COLLEGE SINGERS/THE CONCERT CHOIR—Voice Depart- ment Chair Kenneth Greenhouse leads the 17-voice College Singers in a program of a capella and accompanied choral music of Copland, Hindemith, Hanson, and Fissinger, among others. Guest instrumental- ists include faculty member Wayne Ward, piano, and visiting oboist Debbie Martin. In the second half, Voice Department faculty member Anne Peckham directs the 40-member Concert Choir performing Schubert’s Mass, as well as works by Bach and Bartok. SONGWRITERS NIGHT—Under the direction of faculty composer Bob Weingart, this concert features the 12 winning songs from the Songwriting Department’s annual college-wide songwriting contest, representing a variety of styles and instrumental settings.
